Kidney Transplant Program has started due to continuous efforts of Director Kidney Center Prof. Dr. Mazhar Khan. The Kidney Center Transplant Team has signed MOU with well known Doctor, Professor Syed Akhtar, Chairman Transplant PKI,  Pakistan to make the transplant program of international standard. He visited the Kidney Center on 29 May 2022 and inspected all the facilities and was satisfied with all the transplant arrangment.

The transplant team has admitted 3 patients, one of whom is expected to undergo surgery next week, while dozens of patients have already registered for the transplant.

Although the transplant program will be in the Sehat Sahulat Card, to make this program a success, they have also demanded a transplant grant from the government so that this program can continue without any interruption. The Minister of Health has agreed to provide the funds and it is hoped that this fund will be released soon so that an international standard transplant program can be started as soon as possible.

Director Kidney Center, Prof. Mazhar Khan thanked the PKI delegation and hoped that kidney transplantation would soon begin at the only government hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

This will be beneficial not only the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also the people of Afghanistan.
